How To: Practice Gratitude When Life Sucks

How To: Tips for Living

Just about every Law of Attraction Coach or Manifestation Expert will stress the importance of Gratitude. I too, am telling you, you need to develop a gratitude practice.

Now, when life is hard, things are sucking, you perhaps feel hopeless or helpless, that can feel impossible. So, let’s start small. Here’s how.

When you wake up in the morning, sometime after hitting snooze, but before actually getting out of bed, take 3 slow deep breaths. Feel the coolness of the air as in enters through your nostrils. Feel gratitude for your breath and a a new day. Then keep the momentum going. At points throughout the day take notice of small things of beauty. Make it a challenge! When you see a rainbow, a bird, a fluffy cloud, a leaf slowly drifting on an unmeasurable breeze, take a mental note and express gratitude. Purposefully bring things into your day and be grateful for them. Splurge on a coffee shop latte, play some of your favorite music, stop by your favorite park or window shop your favorite store and appreciate a pretty patterned dress.

At the end of each day write down at least three things you were grateful for. When they are big, “that client finally let go and trusted me”, or when they are small, I appreciated the smell of fresh cut grass today, write them down. If you have more than three write them all! It’s absolutely ok if your list is the same everyday. The point is to recognize that even when life sucks, we have things to be grateful for. Spend your moments focusing on something lovely or inspiring in the now. When things are super sucky, just come back to the breath and have gratitude for it!
